You've got the network – now make it wireless with the Linksys WAP54G Access Point. It uses Wireless-G technology for broad coverage and faster data speeds than the older standards (when used with compatible wireless adapters), while still being fully backwards compatible — perfect for mixed-mode environments.
Adding devices to your new wireless network couldn't be easier – simply push the button on the AP, and on any SecureEasySetup-enabled device, and you are set! Configuration is a breeze, too, thanks to the browser-based configuration utility. Full wireless security is provided with WEP and WPA encryption algorithms. This lets you keep your data secure and prevents bandwidth theft that can slow your network down.
Linksys is an impressive presence in the networking world, and the WAP54G is one good reason why.
- IEEE 802.11b/g Compliant Compliant with the IEEE 802.11b/g protocol, the Linksys WAP54G smoothly integrates into almost any existing wireless network with up to 54Mbps data transfer speed.
- Easy Setup and Configuration With the push-button setup feature, connect any SecrureEasySetup-enabled wireless device to the Linksys WAP54G quickly and securely with the least effort. Device and security configuration is a snap with the browser-based utility.
- High-level Security The Linksys WAP54G supports 64/128-bit WEP encryption, WPA security and MAC address access control to prevent your network from malicious attacks and threats.

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Pros - Newegg gave a full refund. 3 eggs because it didn't work, but that's not Newegg's fault. Newegg has good customer service. 3 eggs on the used device, 5 eggs on Newegg customer service
Cons: The A/P had obviously been opened and sealed back up. Did not work
Other Thoughts: Been a customer of Newegg since 2004
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: No doubt one of the most reliable access point devices of its time none today compare to its rock solid reliability
Cons: None
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Decent range. I had 4 to 5 bars throughout the house after hookup. Added this to an existing Lynksis router (BEFSR41) for my Dad. Almost plug and play easy.
Since this has the older classic Lynksis look to it, it just parks right on top of the router and looks good. Not like the 'new and improved' UFO look they switched to. I don't think you can stack the newer design.

Cons: Not that major of a con but the firmware is kinda cheesy. Not a lot of settings but then again it's just a wireless AP. If you think you might need more options, consider running Tomato or DD-WRT on it. I left the firmware alone because this was at my folks place and it needs to be easy for them to fiddle with if needs be.
Other Thoughts: Nothing really. Same great Newegg service and shipping as usual.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Great AP, high build quality and relatively easy setup if your not trying to go above and beyond what instructions come in the box.
Cons: Had issues connecting to my router to use as a wireless bridge to continue my wired network on the other side of the house. After about 13 hours I finally configured the AP to connect to wrt54g. Only issue is I had to remove all security settings so they would communicate and issue IP's that both could use. After rearming WEP security and disabling the visibility of my network, 1 day later they would once again not communicate. I am sure there is something on my end that I am not doing right but for the distance of 20 feet I'll rather run a cable and hide it under the carpet then adventure configuring this AP/Router anymore.
Other Thoughts: I'm sure that if I could figure out the issues I had and get an idea of what I did wrong I would have no problem purchasing this AP once again.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: These are awesome. I now have 5 of them. They are only b/g, but that is fine. They work well. I have them for guest wireless access and guests tell me they work great. Doing manual configuration on these is easy. I think it is easier to manually config them then using the software.
Cons: Only run them in mix mode. I tried running them in 'G-only', and had problems.
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: This thing is rugged - can handle power surges and hot temperatures and keep on chugging. A reliable WAP for sure.
Cons: Not-so-clear help in the Web GUI. Questionable operation as a repeater. I tried everything I could to make this repeat the signal of a Linksys WRT54G - including disabling all wireless security. I could not make this work. I've read reports that even if you do get the repeater to work, it can't handle anything more than WEP security.
Other Thoughts: Didn't try the bridge option. You can possibly load dd-WRT on this too. That might have solved my problem.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Pretty easy to configure and get running. Decent range.
Linksys Wap54g Manual
Cons: But the first one I bought started randomly going out to lunch after a year, forcing a power cycle to get it back. So, thinking that maybe it was a sign that it was on it's way out, I bought another one - big mistake, as the new one is doing the same thing almost immediately after hooking it up. Off to the internets I go to see if it's just me with this problem and behold - I'm just one of many! How wonderful!! But hey, it's only money...
Other Thoughts: Stick w/ something else.
